At Montana State University our faculty and students seek to shape the direction of music in the 21st Century by pursuing diverse ideas and practices in music. Students work with faculty members that are active, engaged, and extremely committed to undergraduate teaching. For students wishing to major or minor in music, we offer the Bachelor of Arts in Music, the Bachelor of Music Education, the Bachelor of Arts in Music Technology, and the Minor in Music. Our BA degrees allow the music major to pursue music and more, combining their studies in music with activities in other areas – even leading to the chance to combine music with a double major in a related area.

The School of Music also offers a musical home to any student that wishes to take part in music, including participation in one of our 18 ensembles and/or taking private lessons in performance. Students interested in the Spirit of the West Marching Band can earn partial tuition waivers for up to four years, and students of all majors can audition for scholarships. Join us as we explore innovation in performance, technology, education, composition, and research. Plan a visit to Montana State, and to the School of Music, to see all of what we have to offer.
