Music Schools & Colleges in South Dakota
The Department of Music offers performance experiences that include international and regional touring, performances in the renowned Great Hall of the Washington Pavilion of Arts and Sciences, and the opportunity to perform and learn from nationally known visiting artists. Large and chamber ensembles are available in vocal and instrumental studies. Keyboard majors rehearse and perform on the highest quality concert pianos and organs. Class sizes in theory, history and conducting are purposely small to enhance learning and class participation. Our low student-to-instructor ratio affords music majors individualized attention from faculty who are widely acknowledged as leaders in their specialized areas. Students study applied lessons with our faculty, including members of the Augustana String Quartet, a core ensemble of the South Dakota Symphony who are in residence at Augustana.
