Caleb J. Murphy is a Songwriter, Composer, and multi-instrumentalist based in Austin, TX. His areas of expertise include songwriting, home production, and balancing life with being a musician.

After teaching himself guitar in 2002, he started publicly releasing music in 2009, which includes multiple albums, EPs, and singles. His music has appeared alongside U2 and Kings Of Leon on the radio, his songs have been used in film projects and podcasts, he has written way more songs than are public, and he has done it all from bedrooms, basements, and garages across the U.S. He also likes to share what he’s learned about being a musician through his writing.

As a contributor to Careers In Music, Caleb passes along what he knows and continues to learn about songwriting, recording, and how to be a DIY musician. In his spare time, Caleb likes hanging out with his wife and two kids, chilling with friends, reading books, bingeing Netflix, and playing basketball or ultimate frisbee.

Caleb’s press:

“Authentic. Open. Honest…Everybody Breaks tears his last barriers to vulnerability down and forges them into the most personal album of his career thus far.” — Pop Of Colour

“[Everybody Breaks is] an easy listen—colored with indie-rock beats, reggae tempos, and uplifting lyrics.”IUP Magazine

“…He’s definitely got talent that’s beyond his years.” WYEP, Pittsburgh

As a Writer, Caleb has helped thousands of part-time musicians through his blog Musician With A Day Job and he has written for some of the biggest music advice websites, including CD Baby, Bandzoogle, Sonicbids, and many others.

Other reputable outlets have found his advice helpful enough to share it with thousands of readers. ASCAP has shared his writing in their Daily Brief email multiple times, hypebot has featured his music advice a couple times, he has made the front page of Music Think Tank, and several smaller blogs have shared his content.
